About angle units

An angle measures rotation or the opening between two lines. Degrees split a full turn into 360 parts, a choice inherited from ancient Babylonian astronomy. The radian is the SI unit and ties the angle to the circle: one radian is the angle where the arc length equals the radius, so a full turn is 2π radians.

Gradians divide a right angle into 100 parts, and one degree splits further into 60 arcminutes and 3,600 arcseconds, used in astronomy and precise surveying.
