The “cat drinking milk” image is a leftover from when kittens nurse. After weaning, most cats lose lactase. A saucer of cow’s milk commonly causes diarrhea. It is not a methylxanthine toxin, but it is a poor idea.
Chocolate milk, sweet creamers and sugar-free syrups can add caffeine, theobromine or xylitol. Lactose-free “cat milk” products sold in shops are optional treats, not nutrition, and still need a short ingredient read.
Kittens that cannot nurse need a commercial kitten milk replacer mixed to label directions — never cow’s milk as a substitute for queen’s milk.
