Can dogs eat mashed potatoes?
Only if it is plain boiled potato mashed with water — no onion, garlic, butter, gravy or xylitol. Even then, a teaspoon is plenty. Restaurant mash is almost never safe.
Is potato skin OK if cooked?
Skip green or sprouted skin. Even cooked brown skin is fibrous and a choke risk. Plain peeled flesh is the only form worth considering, in a tiny amount.
How is potato different from sweet potato for pets?
Both should be plain and cooked. Sweet potato is also a starchy extra. Raw/green white potato has a clearer solanine warning. Neither replaces a complete pet food.
