Spring Festival and Seollal: one moon, different tables

Lunar New Year is a shared East Asian calendar family, but food, bows, and envelopes split. Spring Festival talk leans dumplings, couplets, and hongbao; Seollal files charye, sebae, tteokguk, and sebaetdon. Dates often coincide; public-holiday and travel patterns still differ by country. seollal-luck is Seollal only; red-envelope-luck is hongbao; chuseok-luck is Hangawi. This landing is the contrast only. Tteokguk does not extend a lifespan. Highway traffic beats a chapbook.

Calendar

East Asian lunar first month. Leap months and time zones mean “the same day” is not always the same public holiday.

Tables

Tteokguk versus dumplings and fish. Custom, not a translation. Not obstetrics.

Split from the Seollal landing

The Seollal-only essay is another URL. This is the Spring Festival contrast only.

Practice

Highways, allergy, rite manners. Hongbao and sebaetdon are gifts, not quotes.
