Turkey, especially Istanbul, packages surgery, hotel, and transfers at prices that undercut much of Europe and North America. Volume is not the same as a guaranteed result.
People fly to Turkey because all-inclusive quotes can be far lower than at home, wait times are short, and some surgeons there do a very high number of cases. That volume can build skill. It can also feed assembly-line models where the physician is barely in the room and technicians harvest and place grafts. International hair-surgery groups have warned about unlicensed operators, overharvested donor areas, and mega-sessions that look impressive on day one and thin or scarred later. You cannot judge a clinic by Instagram density filters, a celebrity photo wall, or a ‘free extra grafts’ upsell.
Practical checks: who holds the scalpel and the punch, what happens if you need a revision after you fly home, how many grafts they plan versus what your donor can spare, and whether they will refuse you if you are not a candidate (young, unstable loss, diffuse unpatterned thinning, scarring disease). Budget for aftercare, time off work, and a possible second trip. Medical tourism still needs a diagnosis; a cheap FUE does not treat alopecia areata or frontal fibrosing alopecia.
