A good transplant clinic is defined by who operates, how honestly they plan your finite donor hair, and how they handle problems — not by a hotel night in a marketing flyer.
ISHRS and similar professional groups emphasise that hair restoration is surgery. Ask who makes the incisions, who harvests, and who places grafts. A famous brand name with technicians doing the critical steps is a different product than a named surgeon who stays in the room. Board certification in a relevant surgical or dermatologic field is a starting filter, not a personality contest. Request unedited donor and recipient photos of patients with your hair type and pattern, not only celebrity lighting. If the consult refuses to talk about shock loss, ongoing AGA, or a plan if you go further bald, keep walking.
Red flags: 'unlimited grafts,' guaranteed teenage density, pressure to fly tomorrow, payment only in cash, no written aftercare, and a quote that ignores medical therapy. Donor hair is a bank account. Overharvesting FUE to win a before-and-after photo can leave a moth-eaten permanent donor. Compare graft math to your Norwood or Ludwig stage and your hairstyle goals. Medical tourism can be done carefully or recklessly; language, revision access, and infection follow-up are part of the price even when the invoice looks cheap. Transplants do not treat active scarring disease.
Get a diagnosis first. Pattern loss usually still needs minoxidil or a DHT blocker if you want to protect native hair. This is not medical advice and not a clinic ranking. If you have bleeding disorders, poorly controlled illness, or unrealistic coverage goals, a responsible team will say no. That refusal is a quality signal.

Preguntas frecuentes
Is the cheapest package in a famous transplant city automatically worse?
Price alone is a weak score. Very low quotes that hide who operates and how grafts are counted are the problem. A mid price with a present surgeon can beat a luxury lobby and a factory line.
Should I choose FUE only because Instagram prefers it?
Choose the harvest that fits your scar preference, hair length, and donor anatomy after an exam. Instagram preference is not a surgical indication. FUT remains appropriate for some people.
How many consults should I do before booking?
At least two independent opinions is reasonable for elective surgery on a finite donor. If two honest plans disagree wildly, get a third rather than splitting the difference with a discount code.
