Business Days Calculator (Working Days Between Dates)
Count the working days between any two dates, weekends automatically excluded. You get the business-day total, the plain calendar-day span, and how many of those days fell on a weekend.
How this calculation works
The calculator walks through every calendar day from the earlier date to the later date, inclusive of both endpoints, and checks whether each one falls Monday through Friday. Every weekday counted is a business day; every Saturday or Sunday counted is a weekend day.
Total days is the full inclusive span — start date and end date both count as one day each. If you enter the dates in reverse order, they are swapped automatically so the result is always positive.
Weekend days is simply total days minus business days, so the three numbers always add up: business days + weekend days = total days.
Worked example
Business days vs. calendar days
A calendar day is any day on the calendar. A business day (also called a working day or weekday) is any Monday through Friday. The gap between the two grows with every weekend the range crosses, which is why a "5 business day" delivery estimate can span anywhere from 5 to 9 calendar days depending on where the weekends fall.

Public holidays are not deducted
This calculator only removes Saturdays and Sundays. National, regional and religious holidays vary too widely by country and even by industry to build into a general-purpose tool, so treat the business-day figure as an upper bound and subtract known holidays for your own calendar when precision matters — for example, statutory notice periods or court filing deadlines.
