Days Until Calculator (Countdown to Any Date)
Pick any date and see exactly how many days, weeks, months and hours are left until it arrives. Already passed? The calculator switches to a negative number so you can see how long ago it was.
How this calculation works
The calculator compares your device's local midnight today to local midnight on the target date and counts the whole calendar days between them, so the moment you happen to open the page never changes the result.
Weeks and months are simple conversions of that day count: weeks = days ÷ 7, and months = days ÷ 30.4375 (the average length of a calendar month, 365.25 ÷ 12). They are handy approximations, not a calendar year-month-day breakdown.
Hours is the day count expressed in hours (days × 24), counting to midnight of the target date rather than a specific time of day — useful for a quick order-of-magnitude figure, not an exact-minute countdown.
Worked example
Reading a negative result
This calculator does not stop at zero. If the target date is in the past, every figure — days, weeks, months and hours — turns negative, telling you how long ago the date occurred instead of how long until it arrives. A trip that ended two weeks ago simply reads about −14 days rather than an error.
Days, weeks and months at a glance
Because weeks and months are direct conversions of the day count rather than a calendar breakdown, they line up predictably. Use this table as a sanity check on any result.
| Days | ≈ Weeks | ≈ Months |
|---|---|---|
| 7 | 1.0 | 0.2 |
| 30 | 4.3 | 1.0 |
| 90 | 12.9 | 3.0 |
| 180 | 25.7 | 5.9 |
| 365 | 52.1 | 12.0 |

Calendar days vs. business days
This tool counts every day on the calendar, including Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. That is the right measure for a countdown to an event like a wedding or a flight. If instead you need to know how many working days remain — for a project deadline, notice period or delivery estimate — use the business days calculator, which counts only Monday through Friday.
