Sales Commission Calculator (Rate × Sales, Optional Tier)

Commission is usually a percent of sales, sometimes with a bonus and a higher rate above a quota. This page does rate × sales, adds an optional bonus, and — if you set a threshold — pays the first slice at the base rate and the remainder at the tier rate. It is gross commission, not take-home pay.

How this calculation works

With threshold 0: commission = sales × (rate ÷ 100) + bonus.

With a threshold: first min(sales, threshold) at the base rate, then max(0, sales − threshold) at the tier rate, then plus bonus.

The bonus is a flat add-on (SPIFF, contest, guarantee). It does not change the percents.

Tax, draws against commission, and returns/chargebacks are not deducted. Use take-home pay if you need a net sketch.

Worked example

Sales 120,000, 5% up to 100,000 and 8% above, plus 500 bonus → 5,000 + 1,600 + 500 = 7,100.

Frequently asked questions

Is this before or after tax?
Before. Commission is ordinary income in most places. Run a paycheck estimator separately.
What if my plan is a draw?
A recoverable draw is an advance. This tool shows earned commission, not how it nets against a draw balance.
Can I model three tiers?
Only two slices here (base + one overage rate). Split the overage by hand or run twice and add.
Gross sales or margin?
Type whichever your plan uses. Some teams pay on gross profit, not invoice total.
Does bonus count toward quota?
Not in this math. Quota is the threshold you type; bonus is added after the percents.
Are inputs stored?
No. Browser only.
