A building block of protein is not a DHT blocker. Hair-kit marketing likes lysine next to biotin. That shelf placement is not a randomized hairline trial.
You get lysine from meat, dairy, eggs, and legumes. Isolated L-lysine is sold for cold sores in some markets and bundled into “hair formulas.” Controlled evidence that lysine supplementation regrows vertex density in well-nourished people with male or female pattern loss is not in the same league as the minoxidil and finasteride programs. The American Academy of Dermatology focuses on those drugs, iron when deficient, and diagnosis of other alopecias — not lysine megadoses.
People with very low protein intake or restrictive diets can shed (telogen). Fixing the diet is food and clinical nutrition, not a single amino acid as a mascot. Lysine can interact with some absorption stories in supplement folklore; do not stack it with a pile of other capsules as a home protocol. This is not medical advice. Kidney disease changes amino-acid supplement safety — ask the clinician who knows the labs.
If a brand claims “clinical strength lysine” with no trial name you can verify, treat it as advertising. Photograph progress under drugs you actually have evidence for. Related pages: biotin, collagen, diet and hair loss.

Perguntas frequentes
Will L-lysine stop a receding temple?
Not as proven pattern therapy. Temples are usually androgenetic. Use diagnosed treatments, not an amino acid slogan.
Can I take lysine with minoxidil?
Food-level lysine is ordinary eating. Extra pills are optional and unproven for pattern loss. They do not replace topical minoxidil.
Does lysine help iron or ferritin?
Some older nutrition papers discuss amino acids and iron absorption. That is not a reason to skip measured ferritin care. Ask the clinician ordering labs.
Is lysine deficiency common?
On mixed omnivorous diets, isolated lysine deficiency is not the usual explanation for male pattern baldness. Global protein-energy malnutrition is a different setting.
