Traction alopecia is hair loss from chronic pulling. The American Academy of Dermatology discusses tight styles, extensions, and edges as preventable mechanical injury. Is this the same as the ponytail traction page?
Same disease family, different tool. Ponytails pull a bunched tail. Headbands press and tug a ring. Both can injure edges. Loosen both.
Will minoxidil fix traction from a band?
Stopping the tension is the first mechanical step. Minoxidil is labelled for pattern density, not as a traction antidote. Ask a clinician if both coexist.
