Meditation and Attention

Mindfulness and related practices are studied as attention and stress interventions. Findings are heterogeneous: some tasks improve, many studies are small, and IQ transfer is not established. This site is not a clinic.

Does meditation raise IQ?

There is no good basis to treat sitting practice as a way to mint a higher deviation IQ. At best, some people report better focus on some tasks.

What about flanker or Stroop studies?

A subset of papers reports reduced conflict costs after training. Replication and active-control quality vary. Our flanker-lite is a toy, not their protocol.

Is this medical or spiritual advice?

Neither. If you have trauma, psychosis risk, or you feel worse while meditating, seek qualified care. Games here are not treatment.

Short app sessions vs retreats?

Dose and teacher quality differ. Marketing claims often outrun the literature.

Attention vs intelligence?

Better control on a conflict task is not a Full Scale IQ. Keep the constructs separate.

How should I practice here?

You can sample flanker-lite or task-switch-lite as attention toys. Do not score them as enlightenment or IQ.

Test–Retest Reliability

If you take a test twice, the number often moves. Psychometrics calls the stable part reliability and the bouncing part error, practice, mood, sleep, or a different form. A web game score is especially noisy.

What Is a Standard Score?

Raw scores (items correct, milliseconds) are not comparable across ages or tests. A standard score rescales them so that, in a reference sample, the mean and spread are fixed. This site does not convert game hits into that scale.

IQ and Job Performance

Industrial-organizational research often finds that general mental ability predicts job performance better in more complex roles, with validity coefficients that are real but far from 1.0. This article is descriptive. It is not a recommendation to choose or reject a career from a web score.

Nutrition and Cognition

Brains run on ordinary metabolism. Skipping meals, dehydration, and extreme restriction can make attention feel worse in the short run. That is not the same as a supplement raising IQ, and this site does not sell or endorse pills.

Heat and Test Scores

Hot, poorly ventilated rooms make many people slower and more irritable. Research on ambient temperature and exam or cognitive-task performance is mixed but often points to discomfort and attention costs — not a rewritten intelligence.
