Nizoral-style marketing online treats 2% as a daily DHT blocker. The carton is an azole for yeast on the scalp.
U.S. ketoconazole shampoo 2% prescribing information describes use for tinea versicolor and seborrheic dermatitis with a contact time and a weekly frequency — commonly twice weekly for several weeks in seborrheic protocols, then taper as directed. It is not dosed like minoxidil foam. In vitro DHT stories and small hair-loss adjunct papers exist; they do not rewrite the antifungal label into an AGA monotherapy. The American Academy of Dermatology still puts ketoconazole in the seborrheic toolkit. This page is schedule literacy, not a pirated insert, and not medical advice.
Do not use daily “for extra DHT” if the label says twice weekly — irritation and dryness climb. Keep it out of the eyes. Oral ketoconazole tablets are a different hepatotoxicity story and are not a shampoo. If plaques look like psoriasis, 2% ketoconazole is the wrong forever plan (see scalp-psoriasis-vs-dandruff).
Worsening redness, pustules, or hair coming out in clumps after a new shampoo is a dermatology visit. This is not medical advice.

Domande frequenti
Is 2% stronger minoxidil?
No. Different drug class. Minoxidil is a leave-on vasodilator-class OTC for pattern loss. Ketoconazole is an azole wash.
Can I use it every day with minoxidil?
Daily azole wash is often harsher than the insert. Alternate as a clinician directs. Dry the scalp before minoxidil.
1% versus 2%?
1% is widely OTC for dandruff. 2% is often prescription. Strength is not a licence to ignore frequency.
Does it replace finasteride?
No. A 5-ARI insert is not a shampoo. Adjunct at most, and only in a clinician plan.
