Caffeine shampoos are marketed as anti-DHT washes. Most of the excitement is laboratory or tiny human studies. They are not in the same evidence class as FDA-approved minoxidil.
In vitro, caffeine has been reported to counteract some testosterone-related suppression of hair-follicle growth. That is a mechanistic hook, not a shower-time cure. A few small human studies look at caffeine in leave-on or shampoo vehicles; they are not large, long, independently repeated programmes. Contact time in a normal wash is short unless you follow a leave-on ritual the brand invented. Sugar-free espresso on your scalp is not a protocol.
If you like the lather, it can sit beside ketoconazole or a gentle shampoo as a preference. It will not replace finasteride, dutasteride, or minoxidil for androgenetic alopecia. Irritation is possible. Pregnancy: ordinary caffeine shampoo is usually a cosmetic, but treat medicated claims with the same caution as any other unproven hair drug. This is not medical advice. Spend money first on therapies with outcome data, then on a pleasant wash if you want one.

Should I leave caffeine shampoo on for two minutes?
Follow the bottle if you use it. Extra minutes are not a proven way to match minoxidil. They mainly increase the chance of dry lengths.
Can I skip minoxidil if my shampoo has caffeine?
No. A stimulant in a wash is not equivalent to a medicine with years of hair-count trials. Keep proven treatment if you have pattern loss.
