Does castor oil grow hair?

Castor oil can make hair look shinier and hold a style. That is not the same as reversing miniaturisation. Viral lash-and-brow anecdotes are not androgenetic alopecia trials.

Cold-pressed castor oil is viscous. On lashes and brows, people report cosmetic thickening that may be coating, less breakage, or coincidence. Controlled evidence for scalp pattern loss is lacking. Ricinoleic acid has interesting pharmacology in labs; interesting is not a reason to abandon minoxidil. Because the oil is thick, it can weigh fine hair down and trap scale if you already have seborrheic dermatitis.

If you use it, patch-test, keep it out of the eyes, and wash it out so you are not running a grease cap for weeks. Do not heat rancid oil and burn the scalp. Pregnancy: food-level exposure is different from aggressive scalp rituals; ask if unsure. Castor oil will not replace FDA-approved minoxidil, finasteride for men, or JAK inhibitors for severe alopecia areata. This is not medical advice. If you enjoy it as a conditioner, fine — keep the ranking of treatments honest.

Perguntas frequentes

Can I mix castor oil with rosemary oil to beat minoxidil?

Mixing two under-evidenced oils does not create a first-line drug. You can irritate the scalp and then misread the flake-and-shed as progress. Keep proven therapy if you have pattern loss.

Why did my lashes look darker on castor oil?

Coating, staining, and less tip breakage can change appearance without new follicles. Eyelid skin is sensitive; stop if you get redness or swelling and see a clinician.
