Collagen supplements are hydrolysed peptides sold for joints, skin elasticity, and — by hopeful extension — hair. Hair fibre is mostly keratin. Your body can use amino acids from collagen as general protein, but that is not targeted follicle pharmacology. Clinical trials showing collagen reverses Norwood or Ludwig thinning are not in the same category as minoxidil labelling studies. If someone is under-eating protein (crash diets, GLP-1 appetite loss), fixing total protein and calories is the real nutritional move; the brand of peptide is secondary.
People with restricted diets should think about complete protein, iron, zinc, and vitamin D rather than one influencer powder. Collagen is usually safe as food, but it is not a reason to skip a diagnosis. Allergies to source (bovine, marine) happen. Pregnancy: food-level collagen is typically fine; medicinal claims are not. Can collagen stop hair shedding?
If shedding is from crash dieting, eating enough protein can help the telogen shift recover. If shedding is androgenetic miniaturisation, collagen powder will not replace minoxidil or a DHT blocker.
