How Thailand prices it
Thailand's developed medical-tourism infrastructure makes transplants relatively affordable, usually priced per graft or on graft-linked tiers, and sometimes as packages that include accommodation. The factors that move price are technique (scar-free FUE versus FUT, which harvests more grafts per session), the graft count required, and how directly the surgeon is involved. Quality varies widely between reputable big-city clinics in Bangkok and budget operators.
Because the price is low, confirming who actually performs the surgery is central to safety. Some budget clinics have the doctor design the hairline while unsupervised technicians do much of the extraction and implantation. Graft survival, implant angle and density, and donor-zone management depend on operator skill, and the donor area is finite — over-harvesting limits future procedures. Results mature over 9–12 months, and as an overseas procedure, the burden of returning if complications arise should be weighed too.
Transplanted hair is permanent, but a transplant is not a cure: native androgenetic loss continues, so maintenance therapy such as minoxidil or finasteride is commonly advised. Finasteride and dutasteride are teratogenic (risk to a male fetus); women who are or may become pregnant should not handle crushed or broken tablets.
In Thailand, hair transplants run roughly $1.5–$4 per graft. For 2,500 grafts that is about $3,750–$10,000. All figures are estimate ranges — confirm current quotes at an in-person consult; the cheapest option is not the safest.

FAQ
Is a transplant in Thailand safe as medical tourism?
A reputable big-city clinic in Bangkok where a qualified surgeon performs the work can deliver good results. But budget operators sometimes delegate core steps to unsupervised technicians, and overseas care makes follow-up visits harder, so verify the surgeon's credentials and confirm an aftercare plan before booking.
What does a package include?
Depending on the clinic, a package may cover the surgery, accommodation, transfers, medications and the first wash. What varies is whether additional sessions, follow-up for complications or a guaranteed graft count are included, so check that the quote specifies graft number and technique (FUE/FUT).
When will I see the result?
Temporary post-op shock loss of the transplanted hairs is common, after which new hair grows in and the result matures over 9–12 months. Native hair loss also continues, so maintenance medication is commonly advised to keep the result looking natural.
